EAA AirVenture and Ford have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity in the past few years by selling one-off Mustangs to the highest bidder, and this year was no exception with yesterday’s auction of the Blue Angels Mustang. The car commanded a high bid of $400,000, playing a large part of the $2.2 million dollars raised at the charity event. The winner also received a Blue Angels flight helmet signed by the current flight team.
Built to celebrate 100 years of U.S. Navy aviation, the Blue Angels Mustang features a unique blue chrome paint job from Creations n’ Chrome along with hand-painted graphics. The car also features numerous Ford Racing performance upgrades including a supercharger system, Brembo brakes, handling pack and exhaust system, and the interior follows a Blue Angels theme as well with custom Recaro seats, gauges, floor mats and rear seat delete.
